Loft and lie adjustments

Loft is simply the loft on the club face of each club in relation to the ground; lie is the angle of the shaft in relation to your stance.

Every player can have their own unique degree of loft on each club depending on the ball flight they like to hit providing that there is consistency between the lofts so that you get consistency between the distances each club goes. Not only do these need to be set correctly but they need to be checked and adjusted as the metal of the club faces gradually bends over time. The lie is of even greater importance, if the angle of the club is not in relation to your posture and set up then the club will not get a consistent solid strike on the ball; if the club is to upright you will hit a lot of shots pushed to the right, if it is too flat you will pull a lot of shots to the left. Our qualified staff can check and adjust your clubs to give you the ball flight and lie that you desire with each club.

Swing Weighting

The swing-weight of a club is the balance of the overall weight of the club. The higher the swing-weight the more the weight is distributed towards the club end and vice versa. It is expressed in alphanumeric designations such as D-1 or D-2, with the higher letter-number combinations indicating a club whose head is heavier in relation to the grip.

Even the best club heads come with a +/- 2 to 3 grams each. Having your swing weights checked and matched will ensure that each club feels and swings exactly the same, whilst getting the swing weight right on your driver will allow you to achieve your maximum distance.

Lengthening and Shortening Clubs

The length of the club can affect many aspects of your set up and swing which will ultimately affect the quality of your ball strike, causing inconstancy and a loss of distance. If the club is too long or too short it will change the lie angle of your club and/or your posture in set up. During the swing if the club is too short it can cause unwanted body movement or at worse a smaller swing arc losing distance, if the club is too long it can cause you to lose control over the club head causing all kinds of varied strike patterns.

Our qualified staff will observe your set up and swing to make sure the clubs are the correct length for you and make adjustments where necessary.
